Dear Matrixport User,
We have received incident reports of scammers trying to scam users by pretending to be Matrixport staff lately. We hereby remind all users to be vigilant at all times and DO NOT ever disclose any of your private account information to avoid falling prey to hacks or the loss of funds.
To better safeguard your assets and protect your wealth, we have identified the most common fraudulent methods of the scammers and proposed 3 DOs and DON’Ts listed below:
DON’T: Log in your account on a phishing website or download apps from unofficial sources. Attackers will use domain names that look very similar to the official website tricking you to think that you are on the right page. Then they will put fraudulent links or ask you to download malicious app to conduct further social engineering attacks to steal your funds. Some of the most common ones include but not limited to, giving you airdrops, rebates and sending funds to the attacker’s address for guaranteed investment profits.
For example, you can see that both screenshot images look similar but the one on the left is a fradulent phishing website while the one on the right is the official version downloaded from the official website.
From the page layout, it can be seen that the counterfeit app is divided into TradeZone, Pool, Order, property and My, and the page background is mainly dark; while Matrixport is HOME, INVEST, TRADE, WALLET and Me, and the page is marked with bright colors.
On the home page functions, the Matrixport home page has functions such as product entry and fiat currency purchase, and there are no transaction pairs displayed on the home page of the phishing software. The Banner position is also different as the official app is placed at the top of the page.
DO: Learn to distinguish and identify the right and wrong website or app that you are using. To prevent the loss of assets from phishing attacks, ALWAYS check and ensure that you are visiting the official website channel: www.matrixport.com when you do anything, download anything or conduct any transactions.
DON’T: Use an overly simple password. It can be easily cracked by bots using brute-force techniques. Don’t use the same password for different accounts or store your passwords online as the risk of password leakage is higher.
DO: Matrixport recommends using password with 8 or more characters in length, including a combination of uppercase, lowercase, special characters and numbers. It is also best practice to change your passwords regularly or use password manager to manage your passwords across all your accounts.
DON’T: Give your personal information to any personnel from social media channels such as Telegram, Facebook, Twitter etc. with Matrixport avatars. The attackers will pose as official personnel to private message you asking for your account password or directing you to their “official platform” to make investment profits (Refer to screenshots below for examples).
DO: Be VIGILANT to anybody who took the initiative to message you privately first, especially if they are asking for key information such as passwords. Official Matrixport personnels will NEVER EVER take the initiative to ask for your personal account information or guide you to a website for investment profits. DO NOT believe anyone who message you first for investment profits.
